#FightForWonho: hashtags, countries and statistics (January)

This is the third report in which I present the statistics of the hashtags campaign of the #FightForWonho movement, in which I will present the numbers obtained during the month of January 2020. Here you will find how many hashtags, approximate tweets, participating countries, national trends, global trends and the highest positions achieved within the ranking of global trends.

At the end of the article, a comparison of January will be made with the previous two months, but if you are interested in knowing in detail the evolution of this movement, here you will find the November and December reports.

Hashtags and participating countries

In January, 3 months of this fight were completed, which began to manifest itself in the form of hashtags on November 1, 2019. From January 1 to 31, 2020, a total of 120 hashtags were published and 45 of them became world trends.

January was the first month in which it was not possible to position at least one global trend every day. The first day on which that happened was January 13. This means that we managed to be in world trend for 74 consecutive days. In total there were 5 days in this month in which none of the four hashtags achieved world trend status.

The hashtag that achieved the highest position in the world trends ranking was #MonbebeAreStillHere, which reached the number 1 place. Then the hashtags # 스타쉽 _ 아티스트 _ 케어 해 (Starship, take care of your artists) and #OurPathToWonho followed. with positions 20 and 23 respectively.

The hashtag #MonbebeAreStillHere was relevant because it was also the one that had the most tweets in January. The following section will detail how many and the possible reason behind its radical increase in the quantity of tweets.

#MonbebeAreStillHere was also the hashtag that managed to be a national trend in the largest number of countries, with a total of 36. After #MonbebeAreStillHere, the following 4 hashtags that were a national trend in more countries were:

2. # 스타쉽 _ 아티스트 _ 케어 해 (Starship, take care of your artists): 17
3. #CompleteMonstaX: 17
4. #ReuniteMonstaX: 15
5. #WonhoWillBeBack: 14

38 countries in total registered national trends this month with some of the movement's hashtags. As usual, I will point out that this does not mean that there are no Monsta X fans in the countries that were not included in this analysis, but that it is in these territories where the greatest number of fans is concentrated. At the end of this article you will find a table with the list of the 58 countries that have had national trends throughout these three months.

The top 10 countries that had the most national trends with the 120 hashtags published in January were:

1. Brazil: 91
2. Malaysia: 80
3. Turkey: 80
4. Mexico: 72
5. Argentina: 71
6. United States: 70
7. Indonesia: 70
8. Philippines: 51
9. Singapore: 28
10. France: 23

How many tweets were published?

In the analysis of the month of November I explained that it is not possible for me to tell exactly how many tweets have been published in total. This is because the site I use for data collection (Get Day Trends) only provides a rounded approach and only does so with hashtags that were a worldwide trend. To have more precise data, it would be necessary to hire a tool for this and unfortunately that is beyond my means.

Calculating the number of tweets in January was even more complicated, because there were fewer global trends than in previous months, so it is impossible for me to know the number of tweets that some days had. In previous months the figure could be estimated because at least the hashtag in English was a trend if the Korean one did not succeed. But if neither of them achieved this status, I was left without a frame of reference.

Get Day Trends does not show hashtags with less than 10,000 tweets, so it is likely that more tweets have been achieved than the final and approximate amount that I will show shortly. So I just added the tweets of the hashtags in which I found quantifiable amounts. Although it is not an accurate result, I still share it because it is the most I could do with my tools.

With that in mind, the total approximate tweets obtained in January was 1,390,100. The hashtag with appoximately  the most number of tweets was #MonbebeAreStillHere with 300,600 tweets. As we saw above #MonbebeAreStillHere was also the hashtag that was a national trend in the largest number of countries.

Personally, I believe that the success of this hashtag was due to the moment in which it was used. The day before (January 26) Joohoney published a letter in Fancafe describing in detail his fight against anxiety. That made me think that people who continue to write tweets did it even more and those who rested from this campaign returned to show their support. That's my opinion.
