#FightForWonho: hashtags, countries and statistics (December)

This article is a continuation of the #FightForWonho Twitter movement analysis that began on November 1, 2019. Here you will find the amount of hashtags, tweets, national and world trends, and participating countries.

Although this update will take up some November data, Iinvite you to read the previous post so that you know in detail the objectives of the campaign, its characteristics, the achievements obtained in November and the methodology used to obtain the statistics.

I will first give the figures for the month of December and in the end of the article a comparison will be made between the numbers from November and December.

Hashtags and participating countries

December 2019 was the second month in which 2 hashtags were used every 12 hours; one in English and one in Korean. From December 1 to 31, 122 hashtags were used in total. Of those 122, 72 became a worldwide trend on Twitter. Every day at least 1 of the 4 hashtags published were a worldwide trend. Like November, hashtags in English recorded more trends than those written in Korean.

UPDATE: The hashtag that managed to position itself higher in the ranking of world trends was #TogetherForWonho, which reached 3rd place. Then #EpicRespectMonstaX followed in place 16 and #StickWithMX7 reached position 19.

It should be noted that after 61 days since the campaign began, there has not been a single day in which no global trends were achieved (except for November 24 and 25, in which the project stopped in respect of Goo Hara).

The hashtags that were a national trend in a greater number of countries were #StickWithMX7 and #YoListenStarship. Both were national trends in 19 countries.

After #StickWithMX7 and #YoListenStarship, the next 3 hashtags that were a national trend in the most countries were:

3. #KeepMonstaXAs7: 18 countries
4. #NeverLeaveWonho: 18 countries
5. #UndyingLoveForMX7: 18 countries

In total 30 countries recorded hashtags as a national trend throughout the month of December. As I mentioned in the article last month, this does not mean that there are only Monsta X fans in those countries, but that it is in those territories where the greatest amount of tweets was concentrated, to the point of turning them into trends in the region.

In this month the top 10 countries that had more hashtags in national trend were:

1. Malaysia: 110
2. Brazil: 108
3. Philippines: 104
4. Mexico: 103
5. Indonesia: 97
6. Turkey: 91
7. Argentina: 90
8. United States: 90
9. Puerto Rico: 69
10. France: 55

(At the end of this article a table is included with the total ranking of all countries that have registered national trends, adding the values of November and December together.)

How many tweets were published?

It is important to remember that the amounts of tweets that I will share below are approximations, both because the Get Day Trends site only offers a rounded figure and because of the different limitations derived from that feature. In order not to be too repetitive, in the article of theprevious month, these limitations are explained in depth.

The hashtag that recorded the most tweets was #StickWithMX7 (the same one that was a national trend in the largest number of countries), with a total of approximately 114,200 tweets. The final sum taking into account all 122 hashtags of the month of December is approximately 2,602,400 tweets. (An apology for being so repetitive with the word “approximate”, but it is to avoid misunderstandings.)

Comparison between November and December

While 121 different hashtags were published in November, 122 were used in December. This means that 243 hashtags have been published throughout November and December. Of those 243 hashtags, 146 were a worldwide trend.

The approximate total of November tweets was 14,028,400. December was 2,602,400. This means that during the two months a total of 16,630,800 tweets were published.

The hashtag with more tweets in November was #원호 사랑해 (Wonho I love you), with a total of 2,100,000 tweets. In December it was #StickWithMX7 with a total of 114,200 tweets.

In November 58 countries registered campaign hashtags in their national trends. In December, there were 30.

The hashtag #FighForWonho was the one that registered the most national trends in November, with a total of 57. In December there was a tie between #StickWithMX7 and #YoListenStarship, both with a total of 19 countries.

UPDATE: On November 14 hashtags got 1st place in the world trend ranking, while in November only one reached the 2nd position.

Finally, I share a table with the 58 countries that have participated in this project and the amount that national trends that have registered from November 1 to December 31.
